WiseStamp Signature Deployment Methods

Learn how client-side, server-side, and hybrid deployment methods apply WiseStamp signatures across devices and platforms.

Updated today

Overview

WiseStamp offers two main methods to add signatures to your email platform:

  • Client-side deployment – Adds the signature during email composition

  • Server-side deployment – Adds the signature after the email is sent

WiseStamp also provides Hybrid mode, which combines both methods.

These deployment methods determine when a signature is applied, which directly impacts preview, consistency, and device coverage.

Client-side deployment (pre-send signatures)

Client-side signatures are applied during the composition of a new email message.

WiseStamp synchronizes the signature to the user’s browser or desktop email app, including Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail. The signature is applied based on the installed integration.

Examples of client-side behavior

  • Outlook Add-in – Applies signatures in Outlook web and desktop

  • Google integration – Applies signatures in Gmail web and iOS

Key characteristics

  • Signature preview before sending

  • Depends on installed integrations (extension, add-in, desktop app)

  • Applied per device and per email platform

Supported platforms and client-side deployment options

  • Gmail (not Google Workspace) – Chrome Extension, Copy/Paste

  • Google Workspace – Google Workspace Integration, Copy/Paste

  • Outlook for web – Chrome Extension, Copy/Paste, Outlook Add-in

  • Outlook 365 – Outlook Add-in, Copy/Paste

  • Outlook desktop (including Google accounts) – Desktop App, Copy/Paste, Outlook Add-in

  • MacMail (including Google accounts) – Desktop App, Copy/Paste

  • Yahoo Mail – Chrome Extension, Copy/Paste

  • GoDaddy – Copy/Paste, Outlook GPO

  • Other mail platforms – Chrome Extension, Copy/Paste

  • CRM email-based platforms – Copy/Paste, Server-side solution

To learn about specific tools like the Chrome Extension or Outlook Add-in, see Signature Integrations Comparison.

Server-side deployment (post-send signatures)

Available on:

  • Legacy plans – Basic, Plus, Enterprise

  • Current plans – Advanced, Enterprise

How server-side deployment works

Server-side signatures are applied after the email is sent using WiseStamp’s cloud service.

The signature is added before delivery and is visible to all recipients, regardless of the device or platform used to send the email.

Server-side email flow

  1. Email is sent

  2. It passes through your mail server (Google or Microsoft)

  3. The message is routed to WiseStamp

  4. The signature is added

  5. The email is delivered

Key characteristics

  • Works across all devices and email clients (desktop, mobile, CRM)

  • No apps, extensions, or add-ons required for users

  • Requires mail server configuration

Benefits

  • Consistent email signatures across all outgoing emails

  • Always applies the latest signature version

  • Supports any email platform and CRM system

Important: Server-side deployment does not provide signature preview before sending.

Server-side security

  • No email content is stored

  • No semantic understanding of message content or attachments

  • Requests are processed per account (tenant)

  • Complete isolation between accounts

Hybrid deployment (client-side + server-side)

How hybrid deployment works

Hybrid mode combines client-side and server-side deployment:

  • Client-side applies the signature first

  • Server-side applies a signature only if no WiseStamp signature is detected

Key characteristics

  • Prevents duplicate email signatures

  • Ensures full signature coverage across devices and platforms

  • Maintains secure and reliable email delivery

Availability

Hybrid mode is available with automatic installations, including:

  • Outlook Add-in

  • Desktop App

  • Google Workspace integration

Use cases

  • Users sending emails from desktop and mobile devices

  • Organizations using multiple email clients or platforms

  • Teams needing preview + full coverage

Tip: Hybrid deployment is ideal when client-side signatures are already in use but mobile or CRM coverage is missing
