WiseStamp offers two ways to add signatures to your email: server-side and client-side. It is important to understand how each of these methods works to avoid displaying duplicate signatures in your emails.
Server-side signatures are applied after the message is sent. WiseStamp's cloud service receives the message and then deploys the signature, which is visible to all recipients regardless of their device or platform. This method is particularly useful for those who access their emails on multiple devices or use a variety of email clients.
Client-side signatures, on the other hand, are visible to the user while composing the message. WiseStamp synchronizes the signature to the user's computer for use in the email client (such as Outlook, Mac Mail, and Gmail). The signature is automatically applied according to the method installed. For example, if the user installed the Outlook add-in, the signature is automatically applied on both Outlook web and desktop. If the user installed the Google integration, the signature is automatically applied on Gmail web and iOS app.
In addition, WiseStamp offers a hybrid solution that combines server-side and client-side signatures. This method recognizes WiseStamp client-side signatures and avoids deploying an additional signature, which prevents displaying duplicate signatures. This solution is available for automatic installations, such as:
If you see two signatures at the bottom of your email, it's likely that you have a manually installed signature (copy/paste). To avoid displaying duplicate signatures, simply remove or reinstall your copy/paste signature. It's important to note that WiseStamp cannot recognize manually installed signatures in your email platform, so they are not automatically removed or overwritten.
Remove the duplicate signature in Outlook desktop on Mac
To remove the duplicate signature in Outlook desktop on Mac, set your default signature to None so Outlook stops adding the manually installed signature to your emails.
Note: These steps are for New Outlook on Mac. If you are using Legacy Outlook, go to Outlook > Settings > Signatures instead.
Open Outlook on your desktop.
Click New Mail to open a compose window.
In the top bar, click Signature, then click Manage Signatures.
Scroll to the bottom of the signature settings to the Set default signatures section.
Select None for New messages.
Select None for Replies/forwards.
Close the signature settings window.
Discard the compose window you opened in step 2.
To confirm the duplicate is gone, click New Mail to compose a new email. Only one signature should now appear at the bottom of the message.
If the signature still appears twice, your automatic installation may also be adding a signature. See Outlook Add-in installation and FAQ or WiseStamp Desktop App to uninstall the integration you are using.
