Managing Your Signature Icon Quality and Size

The Image rendering preference setting manages the display size of built-in system icons (such as social media, phone, and website symbols) provided directly within the Studio or Classic Editor. This setting allows you to balance visual crispness on high-resolution screens with formatting compatibility across various email clients, though it exclusively applies to these built-in system icons and does not affect custom images, company logos, or banners uploaded manually by you or your users.

Where can I find the image rendering preference settings?

To navigate to these settings:

  1. On the navigation panel on the left, click Settings.

  2. This will open straight to the Organization settings tab.

  3. Scroll down to the section labeled Image rendering preference (located right above the Remove organization section).

What are the advantages of each rendering preference?

Understanding the benefits of each option helps you decide which setting is best for your organization's needs.

Maximum image quality

  • High-Resolution Optimization: This setting keeps system icons at a higher resolution (2x their display size).

  • Crisp Displays: The main advantage is that it ensures all default signature icons look incredibly sharp, clean, and professional on modern Retina, 4K, and high-resolution smartphone screens.

  • Best Used For: Organizations whose recipients primarily use Apple Mail, Gmail, or mobile email clients where high-resolution rendering is preferred.

Fit image to signature size

  • Exact Size Matching: This setting automatically resizes system icon files to exactly the size they appear inside the signature layout.

  • Guaranteed Compatibility: The primary advantage is that it strips away extra resolution data that can cause email layouts to break in rigid email environments.

  • Best Used For: Organizations that want a uniform, predictable layout across all devices and platforms.

How do I stop signature icons from appearing enlarged in Outlook?

If system icons in your email signatures appear abnormally large, stretched, or blown out when received in Microsoft Outlook, it is caused by a Rich Text Format (RTF) issue.

When using Maximum image quality, Outlook sometimes ignores the scaling code in RTF emails and displays the full 2x icon file size. You can stop Outlook from expanding these icons by switching to the Fit image to signature size preference.

To change this setting:

  1. Navigate to your Settings > Organization tab.

  2. Scroll down to the Image rendering preference section.

  3. Switch the selection to Fit image to signature size.

  4. Click Save changes at the bottom of the page to apply the adjustment to all signatures in the organization.
